More Fundraising is coming, would you give your time?
Carson's is doing another community day sale and after the great success of their fall sale how could we say no! Our troop will be back to offering coupon books and accepting donations at Carson's on the weekends.
Are you interested in running a booth for 4 Paws and Rose on your own? There are plenty of time slots available for the month of January starting January 5th the event ends Feburary 24th I believe. We are more then happy to supply a poster board display, pamphets to hand out and t shirts to give for donations 20 dollars and up. Contact me at 4pawsforrose@gmail.com
We are setting our goal for this Carson's Spring Community Days event at $2,400 which would bring us up to 70%.
Wish us luck!

Rose fundraising at Carson's Community Days |
Our fundraising at Carson's Community Days was outstanding. We made so many new friends and received a good number of positive responses from people who wanted to help Rose. She did a great job engaging people and telling them what our fundraiser was about. Thank you to all who donated! We were able to raise 400 dollars yesterday and we could not have done it without you!
Extra special thanks to Tania Kothera who brought her son's service dog Chevy from 4 Paws for Ability. Also to Aw Yeah Comics for providing sketches of super pets and volunteering their time at Carson's.
Rose is asking for your help to donate, see her video

Rose and her stimming
Rose is autistic and does what is referred to as stimming (Self Stimulation Behavior). Hers happens to be chewing.. on anything she happens to have at the time. She doesn't realize she does it when it happens, its just natural to her. In acceptance of this we have gotten rose jewelry that is safe to chew on. I have to say I am impressed with the results of her focus on academics tasks while she is wearing her new jewelry.
Now if only she would stop losing them.
If you are interested in finding some for you and yours these can be found on amazon. Advertised as teething necklaces fashionable to new moms. The chew tubes on a necklace work even better in our experience.

Feature Segment with Rose, ABC news
Last year Rose was chosen by TYGR (Therapy Yoga Gymanastics Rocks) to be a featured child during a news segment about their organization.
Going to see a leg specialist for Rose
Rose's IEP meeting was yesterday. They expressed concern on her inability to run like her classmates. The Physical therapist from her school mentioned that her knees come together when running. I'm very surprised that after 5 years of private Physical Therapy that this wasn't noticed before. I fear that Rose might have our family's genetic trait that resulted in my own major surgery on both hips at her age called femoral anteversion. I'll post more when I have news.
Help Rose get an Autism Service Dog
Please help our family with a goal of fundraising $14,000 so that Rose Hunzeker will be granted
an Autism Service Dog.
Rose was diagnosed at the age of 3 with Pervasive
Developmental Disorder, a condition on the Autistic Spectrum. The first symptom that occurred with Rose was a severe delay in speech and hurting herself when she became upset. Since then our family has learned a lot about Autism. Occasionally she still regresses, losing skills that took months, or years, to acquire. She has the tendency to wander without alerting an adult and social awareness is something she struggles with. Self injurious behavior is still present with Rose when she becomes overwhelmed or frustrated.
She loves animals, always wanting to play with her grandmother's pugs and help take care of them. This nurturing side of Rose has brought a special opportunity, a dog that could help her with her disability. An Autism Service Dog from 4 Paws for Ability, a non profit 501 (c) organization. As a parent witnessing their child hurting themselves to cope with over stimulation is heartbreaking. A service dog would be trained to provide a needed distraction for Rose when overwhelmed. Autism Service Dog's are also trained to track and alert others when Rose becomes distracted and wanders. She suffer's in academics unable to concentrate for more then 20 minutes at a time constantly getting up and wandering during class. A service dog would provide a calming effect that will result in staying at her desk during school.
We ask that you donate to 4 Paws for Ability either through our dedicated page with first giving (click here) or directly to 4 Paws for Ability as a sponsor for Rose Hunzeker. When we meet our goal of $14,000 we can begin training a service dog just for Rose. These tax deductible donations will help our daughter in so many ways.
